Historically, it’s known as the Badger Drive Festival, we call it simply, Badger Day, but whatever you call it, it’s bound to be a weekend of fun for all ages.
The extended weekend of events to celebrate the town of Badger and its history in the logging industry kicks off the first weekend in August each year.
Ringing in the weekend a little early on Thursday evening will be a kiddie’s dance and a pre-teen dance at the community center. On Friday afternoon, the horseshoe and mixed softball tournaments, both complete with a beer garden, get under way. In the evening there will be a Little Miss Badger Pageant and a teen dance.
Saturday, which is what, has become known as Badger Day, kicks off early with the popular Badger Day Parade; there will be an opportunity for children to participate with their bikes, and there are prizes for the best floats, best decorated vehicles, and bikes.
Followed by opening ceremonies and a social hour for seniors, Badger Day festivities continue into the afternoon with carnival-style games and activities for kids at the Badger Stadium, a BBQ, and the continuation of the horseshoe and softball tournaments.
After the sun goes down on Saturday, the grown-ups get a chance to let loose with the adult dance at the Badger Stadium, the event will go on to the wee hours of the morning music entertaining the crowd, there will also be a bar service, so only those over age 19 can attend.
On Sunday, the festivities wrap up with the softball tournament championship game.
